Our Community

WHERE WE LIVE

Simcoe is a beautiful town with many strengths, assets and resources.  With the Lynn River winding through the downtown core, numerous local conservation areas and parks, mature trees dotting the landscape and miles of walking trails, residents enjoy the distinctive natural charm that is unique to our town.

Simcoe is the administrative and commerical hub of Norfolk County with local businesses and organizations serving both town and county-wide residents. The charitable nature of our people is evidenced by the number of organizations, service clubs, social agencies and churches partnering to help one another in our community.

Simcoe is located in the southwestern part of the province just 10 km north of the Lake Erie shoreline. Norfolk County is part of the “South Coast” tourist region.

Our region possesses the greatest agricultural diversity in the province, and we are known as “Ontario’s Garden.” Our warm summer temperatures are conducive to growing crops that have become unique to this part of the country.

Our most popular tourist attractions are the beaches, ports, towns and villages along Lake Erie, known as Ontario’s South Coast. Along with Simcoe, these towns include Delhi, Long Point, Port Dover, Port Rowan, Turkey Point, and Waterford. Fishing is another key attraction for tourists, as well as birding, hiking, camping and cycling.

Our main festivals include:

in June:  Norfolk Community Day and Delhi Strawberry Festival in June

in July:  Canada Day Celebration in Port Dover

in August:  Lynn River Music and Arts Festival at Wellington Park in Simcoe, Port Dover Summer Fest

in September:  Norfolk Studio Tour, BayFest in Port Rowan, Harvestfest in  Delhi

in October:  Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show in Simcoe, Pumpkinfest in Waterford

in December:  Simcoe Panorama of Lights
